[Olive's Art-Venture]

(I played the exe version of it) I'm so glad I had a drawing tablet here 'cause the game is inherently fun! Not only is the art cute and well presented overall, but the mechanics are unexpectedly intuitive and the difficulty is engaging. I love every aspect of it!

Pretty cute and fun! The game could use some control on jump height. It feels awkward in tight spaces to do a full jump everytime. Otherwise, it's pretty solid!

The characters and illustrations look charming, but that's about it.

Although the sprites look pretty, the background seems unstylized and it doesn't look like it belongs with the rest of the graphics. And the HUD looks like a placehoder (Solid red Impact font and white Arial? Really?).

There are many complaints written here about the controls, but I think the main problem is how, unlike the original game, the character can only stand along a grid. This makes it harder to change direction and space yourself from enemies. The "Quick Turn Around" is a rather unelegant solution to this and it feels unintuitive.

Also, having the gameplay zoomed in on the character as opposed to having it fixed on the entire map is disorienting and makes it hard to plan ahead, which was important in the original game. I get you zoomed in to show off some animations, but something like a minimap could help.

There are some cool ideas tho: I like the quick escape mechanic and the powerups spice it up a bit (riding Fygar is so cool). It's just that the core issues make it harder to enjoy these details.

It's playable, but it's not as fun as the original. While "DigDug but it's a gurl!" is a cute idea, this has to be cooked for a while longer.
